What is the Children Helping Children Fair?
The Children Helping Children Fair is where children bring their homemade items (look at "What can you sell?" to get ideas) and use booths to sell them to the people who come. Be creative! I encourage the children participating in the fair to donate at least half their profit to the Children’s Specialized Hospital Foundation. These funds will go into research, equipment, and anything else the hospitals need.
Why should children participate?
Firstly, they will develop entrepreneurial and communication skills. It will be a learning experience on how to earn money effectively. Secondly, they will realize their self-worth as an individual. Donating to charity earlier in life can foster an empathetic approach to life. After the event, you will receive a participation certificate with the child's name on it.
Where and when do I go?
1st fair:
The date is August 12th, 2023 from 2 PM - 6 PM. It will be at the
Pleasant Valley Park Picnic Shelter. The address is 3405 Valley Rd,
Basking Ridge, NJ 07920.
2nd fair:
The date is October 14th, 2023 from 10 PM - 4 PM. It will be at the Somerset County
4-H gym. The address is 310 Milltown Rd, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.
3rd fair:
The date is May 18th, 2024 from 12 PM - 6 PM. It will be at the Downtown Basking Ridge Area.
4th fair:
The date is August 7-9, 2024 from 10 AM - 10 PM. It will be at the Somerset County 4-H Fair. The address is 310 Milltown Rd, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.
5th fair:
The date is May 17th, 2025 from 12 PM - 6 PM. It will be at the Downtown Basking Ridge Area.
Who can attend?
Only children ranging from elementary school to middle school are allowed to sell things at the booths, but parents are completely welcome to help set up, facilitate the selling process, and buy products from other booths. In addition to parents, anyone in the community is encouraged to come and buy something.
What should I bring?
Please bring:

a container to hold money

How do I donate? (NOTE: the entry fee is to cover rental of the park and is not donated)
You have two options to donate:

On the day of the fair, you will put the amount you would like to donate into an envelope with your name and the amount of money (I will donate all the money towards my fundraising page below)

ABOUT ME
Hi! My name is Emma, and I’m a 17-year old from Basking Ridge. I’m passionate about creating art and believe deeply in the power of community service and the incredible impact a group of people can make.
I am an active volunteer at the Children’s Specialized Hospital, where I help children with special needs learn water safety and swimming. The swimming program is underfunded, which inspired my initiative to host a series of craft fairs in the past 2 years, raising funds for this hospital to support more children with special health needs. I hope this event inspires children to think about those in need and encourages them to lend a helping hand.
